On October 22nd 2015, we launched CPOI at a one day conference in the Brian Friel Theatre at Queen’s University, Belfast.
The specific theme for the day was The Production of Our Contemporary Livelihood.
We explored this theme as a distinct cultural policy consideration in 4 areas- Space & Place; Work & Employment; Identity; Infrastructures.
We were joined by a fantastic array of speakers drawn from diverse academic backgrounds (geography, creative arts, art history, sociology, economics, planning and engineering, marketing, politics and heritage) and an invited audience of policy makers and active researchers.
Our intention was to state the value of cultural policy research, provide rigorous thinking and discourse on the theme, while also creating an opportunity for knowledge exchange and networking amongst cultural policy researchers in Ireland.
