Building the Evidence Base for Cultural and Creative Industries Policy
September 3 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

The Culture and Society Research Hub invites you to a panel discussion on Wednesday 3 September, 12:00–13:00, in room CQ-107, Central Quad, TU Dublin, Grangegorman.
Moderated by Dr. Caroline O’Sullivan, Academic Lead for the Hub, the session brings together representative bodies, funders, and researchers.
The discussion will explore what Irish cultural policy could look like if it were built on the same quality of data as other sectors of the economy. Across the Cultural and Creative Industries including screen production, games, and the arts, individual organisations gather data that speaks to their own remit, but no shared infrastructure exists to bring these disparate sets into a coherent national picture.
The panel examines this gap through three lenses on work:
-
Work done: games as commercial output and the policy case for supporting it
-
Working conditions: job sharing as a structural response to precarity in screen production
-
Work needed: requirements for a functioning evidence base and who might build it
The ambition is to make the case that Irish cultural policy needs and could develop a research framework commensurate with the sector’s economic and cultural importance.
You can register for the event via this form. The session is part of a larger showcase for the ARISE programme, and you are most welcome to join earlier in the day if your schedule allows.
