About CPOI

Cultural Policy Observatory Ireland (CPOI) is a network that brings together researchers, practitioners, students, and policymakers to exchange knowledge, build connections, and influence the evolving field of cultural policymaking, the study of its delivery at all levels (organisational, local, national) and its effects on wider cultural and creative practices on and about the island of Ireland.

CPOI membership is free and open to researchers, students, cultural producers, practitioners and policymakers with an interest in exchanging ideas and knowledge with and cultivating plans for future research projects and activities. Membership is also open to organisations and collectives.

The network and research activities of CPOI are coordinated on a voluntary basis by its members. A voluntary Steering Committee led by Co-Directors Victoria Durrer and Ali FitzGibbon oversees membership and activities.

CPOI was established in 2015 as a partnership between Kerry McCall Magan, Country Director, British Council Ireland and Dr. Victoria Durrer, Assistant Professor in Cultural Policy at University College Dublin. The network set up was seed funded by the Irish Research Council under the ‘New Foundations’ scheme, 2014.
